Digital drawing

Nowadays, digital drawing tables are often used in scientific drawing. Digital drawing makes it much easier to reproduce line drawings at different scales. The digital line drawings below, drawn by Venni Keskiniva, present a species of fern genus Danaea new to science.

Digital drawing makes it possible to use different layers, so for example outlines can be on one layer. This way, it is easy to change the thickness of the outlines independently of other lines in the figure.

Both the leaf veins and the shading of the rhizome have been digitally drawn on this layer.
